The great musical rivalries, Beatles vs Stones, Wham vs Duran Duran, NSync vs Backstreet Boys, Take That vs Boyzone - but the one that was most relevant for me, was Blur versus Oasis. I was never in one camp or the other, just got to relish the awesome music that came out of that era.
I love Damon Albarn and thought that Liam Gallagher was a bit of a wanker. I do, however think Noel Gallagher is an amazing writer and it was when I saw him interviewed the other night on Jonathan Ross that I got thinking about the rivalry between these two bands. Of course it was all fuelled by the British tabloid media at the time, and I think Liam may have had a lot to do with stirring the pot too. Jonathan asked Noel is he would ever consider doing a collaboration with Damon Albarn and he gave a very positive answer - if only - all my 90s dreams realised :o)
Here is a few of my favourite videos:
Sorry for the poor quality and not original vids, all quite heavily copyrighted, but the beauty of these bands is to see them live anyway!
Linking up with Thea as always on a Sunday

Sunday Session - Regard the moon - La lune ne garde aucune rancune
Yay it's Sunday! Linking up with Thea at Do I really wanna blog? for her Sunday Session.
This week I have chosen to use the theme of the moon. Mainly because I wanted to put in this song by Echo and the Bunnymen - Killing Moon. Came across it from watching The Lost Boys many, many years ago and have loved it since., Have been fortunate to see them a few times at festivals and this is one of my all time favourite songs.
This next song was in one of the "Sing" books we used to use for music class in primary school- it was before Cat Stevens morphed and I remember loving to sing it in music lessons, 'Moon Shadow'.
The Police - Walking on the moon - nuff said!
And just to bring the 80s in, as I can't help it. This one gets me singing every time. The Waterboys - The Whole of the Moon
Have a great week. Head on over to Thea's page to check out some great Sunday music.

Sunday Session - the 21st edition
Last night, we attended my cousin's 21st birthday. So as I link up with Thea's Sunday Session, I thought it would be a good excuse to revisit some music from the year he was born - 1990. (Anything to get the 90s on my blog!)
The top selling single in Australia that year was Sinead O'Connor's 'Nothing Compares 2 U' - but that is way too whingy for me, so first up is B52s 'Love Shack' - came in at number 10 even though it was released in 1989.
One of my favourite grungy bands is Faith No More, and this one of their first hits, but it was still before they were a commercial success - 'Epic'.
1990 was the year of Roxette's 'It Must Have Been Love', Jon Bon Jovi's 'Blaze of Glory', Aerosmith's 'Janie's got a Gun' , New Kid's on the Block's 'Step by Step' and Milli Vanilli's 'Blame it on the Rain'.
But on the non-commercial stations, there was some amazing sounds starting to evolve. It was the year before Nirvana's 'Smell's Like Teen Spirit'and the grunge explosion. The west coast of America had many emerging bands with dirty guitars, and a black view of the world. Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and SoundGarden were all in a garage somewhere on the brink of something pretty amazing in music history.
Next song is Andy Prieboy's 'Tomorrow Wendy' - such a haunting song.
That song makes me cry, so, to lighten the mood - my favourite song from 1990. Still a favourite, feel good song - and I love the film clip, always makes me smile and bop along - They Might be Giants 'Birdhouse in your Soul'.
Surely that got you smiling :o) Have a great week!
Head on over to Thea's Do I Really Wanna Blog? to check out what other's are listening to.

Sunday Session
Thought I would do something different today and link in with Thea's Sunday session at Do I really Wanna Blog?
I love music, our life is full of music and our house has very eclectic tastes. I love nothing more than watching Master Z 'dancing' to the radio. His favourite is Copperhead Road from Steve Earle - not a song I like, but a certain radio station I sometimes listen to as I know all the words to all the songs, plays it every day!!! He enjoys it as he can stamp his feet on the floorboards throughout.
I am more a Triple J girl, desperately clinging to my youth. This week, I heard some awesome songs that took me back to the nineties when life was so simple. Mike Mills, a well known director and graphic artist was on Zan Rowe's morning show on Friday and played 5 songs that he has been involved in some how. My favorite of these was Sonic Youth's Diamond Sea - but the radio friendly version, not their usual 17 minute prog rock version. Mike did the cover art to Sonic Youths' album 'Washing Machine' that this song came from.
Second song I chose, is Blind Melon's No Rain as it was part of a mash on Spicks and Specks and again flashed me back to my uni days - haven't thought about this song for ages, buts its a cute little catchy tune that reminds me of summer.
What songs have caught your ears this week?
